IV Sedation

IV Sedation at Plymouth Dental

We completely understand that there are many patients who experience dental phobias or anxieties when visiting the dentist for treatment, but here at Plymouth Dental we have the perfect solution to help make nervous patients to feel at ease.

IV, or intravenous sedation can be administered to make patients feel a great deal of comfort during their dental treatment and ensure that any anxieties are eased.

What is Intravenous Sedation?

IV sedation is a drug that is administered through an injection, which is normally placed in the back of the hand. The effects of the treatment is described as a similar relaxation to sleep, athough IV sedation doesn’t actually cause a patient to fall asleep – rather they will remain conscious, be able to follow instructions from the dentist but be in a deep state of relaxation throughout.

The treatment is extremely safe and will greatly reduce any worries or anxieties that a nervous patient may have during their visit – it’s also great to help patients that have a strong gag reflex.

What's the Cost?

The cost of IV sedation will be added to your treatment plan, so the total cost will depend on the other care that is involved. Your dentist will discuss the options available to you during your consultation, such as finance options to spread the cost of your dental care.
